Culina Logistics Ireland is dedicated to becoming the leading provider of shared user multi-temperature logistics services to the grocery sector in Ireland.

FELDHUES AWARDS CONTRACT TO CULINA LOGISTICS IRELAND

Feldhues, the international producer of character and processed meats, has appointed Culina Logistics Ireland to manage the distribution of its products to grocery retailers throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland. The contract extends and mirrors the operation in the UK where Culina Logistics has been working with Feldhues for some time.

“Culina Logistics has been distributing our products in the UK for almost 20 years,” says Joe O’Connell, Managing Director or Feldhues in Ireland. “During this time we have always found Culina Logistics to be extremely professional, reliable and flexible and so it was an obvious progression to appoint them as distributor of our products throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.”

The contract includes all storage, order picking and distribution of the Feldhues range which includes brands such as Billy Bear. Culina Logistics Ireland will utilise its shared user approach to provide a highly efficient and cost effective supply chain solution that will ensure Feldhues products are delivered to customers in the shortest possible times to maximise shelf life. Feldhues has a manufacturing plant in County Monaghan and working with Culina Logistics Ireland will also provide the company with access to the full network operated by the Culina Group in the UK and Ireland.

Culina Logistics Ireland will manage the operation from its new 16,000m2 (173,000ft2) chilled, ambient and temperature controlled facility in Rathcoole, County Dublin. This is built to the highest specification to comply with EU regulations on environmental performance and is accredited to the ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards and by the BRC and Irish Medicines Board. It is one of nine strategically placed facilities in the Culina Group’s UK and Ireland network which provides fully integrated coverage for customers in both countries. The company’s own transport fleet is Euro 5 compliant, the highest standard, and it uses technology to manage order picking, load assembly and routing and scheduling to minimise vehicle movements and road miles.

“This is an ideal fit for our expanding business in Ireland and means we can provide Feldhues with a local service tailored to its requirements throughout the island,” says Paul O’Donnell, Operations Director at Culina Logistics Ireland. “We will also support the distribution of products so that they have access to the full resources and network of Culina Group in the UK and beyond.”
