HAWKINS ROOFING SELECTS CTE ACCESS

PLATFORM Hawkins Roofing carried out extensive research and selected a CTE Z20E articulated boom access platform mounted on a Mercedes 5.5 tonne chassis for survey work, gutter inspection and maintenance, and general maintenance on front elevations of industrial and commercial premises.

Based in Banbury, Hawkins Roofing Limited was established in 1978 and remains a family run business. The company offers nationwide industrial roofing services and operates in the new build and refurbishment sectors. Since 2002 Hawkins Roofing has also offered a steel stock holding and fabrication facility and, with its in-house 3-D CAD design technology, is able to offer a complete design, manufacture and installation service. Paul Jackson, General Manager at Hawkins Roofing, identified the CTE Z20E as the most suitable machine for the job.

“CTE is a well appreciated and respected name and offered the most robust, solid feeling boom,” says Paul Jackson. “It is very stable with less whip and with almost 20m working height and 9.5m working outreach is an ideal tool for our type of work, accommodating most if not all of our applications.”

Paul Jackson considered the CTE product offers outstanding reliability and is user friendly. The Mercedes 515 chassis offers a comfortable roomy long distance cab and is a good investment. CTE was flexible in being able to offer the chassis Hawkins Roofing wanted together with options and service required to create what is in effect a bespoke product. For example, as Hawkins Roofing often needs to carry out internal work, CTE fitted a mains electric auxiliary drive motor to allow the Z20E to be operated indoors completely under electric power. There are no diesel emissions, no noise and the “Z” boom offers excellent coverage from the set-up position.

Hawkins Roofing is owned by Mr Michael Hawkins and he demands the company maintains and projects a highly professional image. With its new acquisition, Hawkins Roofing wanted to maintain its corporate image and had the cab and boom painted to maintain the “brand” of the company.

“The coupling of the CTE Z20E and Mercedes gives the right image for Hawkins Roofing,” says Paul Jackson. “It has increased the confidence of our existing clients, and impresses new clients when we arrive on site with the correct equipment, especially in view of the ever increasing Health & Safety and Working at Height requirements”.
