PIANOPLAN SCALING NEW HEIGHTS ON STAIRS AND STEPS
The new Pianoplan from CTE is a unique tracked platform for handling items weighing up to 600kg safely and efficiently up stairs and steps. Three different models are available with horizontal and vertical platforms to provide users with complete versatility and flexibility for all types of load. The standard model with its hydraulically actioned sliding top platen has the advantage of being able to keep the load level at all times, whatever the angle of the incline, for the best possible stability and safety. The range includes units with hydraulically actioned tilting forward and tilting back versions to accommodate different customer requirements and applications.
Each model in the range can be used to move items such as safes, photocopiers, drink dispensers, compressors, air conditioners, household appliances and lift motors as well as upright and grand pianos. CTE originally developed the Pianoplan for handling grand pianos in opera houses, concert halls and private residences.
Pianoplan eliminates manual handling of large and bulky items in what are often awkward or confined spaces. This not only allows users to comply with health and safety regulations but also reduces significantly the risk of slips and trips, one of the biggest causes of reportable accidents and serious injuries in the workplace. The device also promotes productivity and efficiency because tasks that previously required four or five people can now be completed more quickly by two workmates or even a single person.
Operating the unit is easy and will be familiar to anyone who has used a powered pallet transporter. Simple controls with joysticks, push buttons and switches are all mounted on a durable and adjustable tiller arm. Fully electronic proportional controls ensure all movements are smooth and precise which is essential when handling large and potentially valuable or fragile items. An emergency stop button is fitted to the tiller head and can be activated at any time to prevent the machine from moving. An electromagnetic brake works directly on the traction gear to ensure maximum safety.
The Pianoplan incorporates two 65Ah batteries and twin controlled drive motors that enable it to climb up to 50 floors between recharges. Independent electronic traction on each track enables the unit to turn on level ground and while climbing or descending stairs for the best possible precision and control in every working situation. The extremely compact design, 540 x 1280mm working width and length, and an internal roller lifting system mean that the Pianoplan can operate in tight spaces and landings as narrow as 850mm.
All steel construction promotes reliability and durability. The base of the steering tiller is specially designed to withstand accidental impact. Control and power cables all run inside the body to reduce the risk of snagging on external items that could lead to machine downtime or damage to the working area. The controls can be removed from the steering arm for easy and quick maintenance.
The maximum weight of the Pianoplan is up to 320kg depending on the specific model which means the overall weight of the machine and maximum load never exceeds 920kg. It can be transported inside ordinary commercial vehicles or on standard plant trailers.
