TASKI Publishes Free Guides on Disinfection of Cleaning Machines

TASKI has published two new guides to help operators keep their scrubber driers and vacuum cleaners safe and hygienic during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The guides provide practical information on the tasks and products required to disinfect floorcare equipment against the virus to protect operators and prevent any risk of cross-contamination. They can be downloaded free from the Diversey website.

TASKI machines deliver the highest cleaning standards and are designed for easy maintenance and good accessibility. This approach also makes them easy to clean and disinfect against viruses and other pathogens. This is important because touching a contaminated surface is one of the ways the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 spreads from person to person. Surface disinfection helps to break the chain of infection and should be part of every cleaning team’s daily routine. Although surface disinfection is always good practice it is particularly important if the equipment is used by different members of the cleaning team during the working day or when machines are used in public areas.

Operators should disinfect frequent-touch hard surfaces on their machines before and after every use. On scrubber driers this will include tank lids and latches, the dashboard, switches and buttons, and the steering wheel or control handle. Similar surfaces on vacuum cleaners include the casing, locks and catches used to access bags and filters, power switches, and the cable, as well as the suction hose, tubes, elbows, and floor tools.

Oxivir Wipes from Diversey offer a fast and convenient way to clean and disinfect surfaces like these against a wide range of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and yeasts. The wipes contain Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide (AHP) as the active ingredient and meet the EN14476 virucidal standard. They are fully virucidal and effective in just 30 seconds in dirty conditions against coronaviruses like the one that causes COVID-19.

The unique formulation of AHP also ensures Oxivir Wipes are non-classified, non-corrosive and safe to use on almost any surface including stainless steel, chrome, vinyl, nylon fabrics, laminated surfaces, glass, rubber, and hard and flexible plastics such as polypropylene, polyurethane, polyethylene, PVC, acrylic, fibreglass and polycarbonate. No rinsing is required.

Operators should also disinfect accessible service points after use and during routine daily and weekly maintenance checks. On scrubber driers this includes components such as filters, pads, brushes, and squeegees. Items like these can normally be disinfected by wiping or dipping in a chlorine solution prepared using a product such as Suma D4 Chlorine Tabs.

Items inside vacuum cleaners such as filter holders and bag compartments can be disinfected using Oxivir Wipes. Swapping standard filters for higher performance HEPA filters will help remove more airborne particles which also helps to improve air quality in the areas being cleaned.

Although the guides provide advice on disinfecting TASKI floorcare machines, the products and processes they cover can be used with almost any scrubber drier or vacuum cleaner.

TASKI has recently redesigned its website. In addition to information about each model in its extensive floorcare range, the new site includes interactive access to 3D imagery, HD video, training material, and in-depth technical details. Visitors can also download the TASKI app to access information on their mobile devices. TASKI has also launched all-new social media channels with regular insight and innovation on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
