Diversey’s new Degragerm 24 Shield provides hotels with a completely new way to stop the spread of infections, including Covid 19, by enabling ongoing surface disinfection for up to 24 hours after application. This innovative ready-to-use product meets numerous disinfection standards, including BSI PAS22424 and EPA RSS that specifically assure its ongoing performance properties. It is ideal for frequent touch surfaces where ongoing protection creates a safer environment for guests and staff while reducing cleaning burdens. Using the product on surfaces twice a day instead of traditional surface disinfectants every couple of hours can save costs and give housekeepers more time to focus on other tasks guests appreciate.

Regular surface disinfection can break the chain of infection and prevent the spread of illnesses, including Covid 19. Focusing on surfaces likely to be touched frequently by different people is critical because these represent potential hotspots for cross contamination. Surfaces such as light switches, door handles, lift buttons, vending machines, coffee machines, and so on must be disinfected frequently throughout the day to maintain maximum protection. But this can be difficult with traditional disinfectants because, no matter how good or often they are used, they can only destroy what is already there and surfaces can be contaminated again straight away.

Degragerm 24 Shield is a completely new type of product that incorporates patented APT – advanced polymer technology – with powerful built-in disinfectants. In addition to working as a traditional cleaner disinfectant on application, it dries to form a thin and almost invisible film that releases disinfectant when touched to deliver ongoing protection. It passes the BSI PAS 2424 Residual Antimicrobial Efficacy Test and the stringent EPS RSS test which assure its ongoing protection against bacteria and enveloped viruses – including the one that causes Covid 19 - for up to 24 hours. The product also meets a wide range of additional disinfection standards including EN1276 (bactericidal), EN1650 (yeasticidal), and EN13697 (bactericidal/yeasticidal), and EN16777 and EN14476 (enveloped viruses). All these tests are passed in dirty conditions which means the product can be used as a cleaner-disinfectant which means there is no need – unlike alternative technologies - to clean the surface before it is applied.

Government agencies recommend frequent touch points are disinfected at least twice a day to maintain protection. Users report reducing cleaning frequency with conventional products from every two hours to twice a day using Degragerm 24 Shield. The improvements in productivity and savings in time and costs are considerable.
